The child within:
“And He said: Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 18:3)
So then we can also say: “Truly I tell you, the moment you change and become like little children, you will enter the kingdom of heaven.”
In order for us to grasp the deeper meaning in this verse, we need to understand what the kingdom of heaven actually is. The Apostle Paul tells us in Romans 14:17 “The kingdom of heaven is righteousness (right thinking), peace and joy” and Jesus said “The kingdom of heaven is within you.” (Luke 17:21)
So, we know what it is, and we know where it is, and the way we enter into it, is by becoming like little children.
A little child trusts his/her parents to provide for them. They don’t try to “earn” their place in life, they were simply born into it, and know that their parents will take care of them. Little children don’t struggle and stress themselves out trying to be little children, they just are.
Little children actively use their imaginations, and for the most part, their only objective is to try and have as much fun as possible each day.
Could it really be that easy? Is Jesus really telling us just to let go, and change back to the state we started out in, the state we were born into? Loving, trusting, having fun, using our imaginations? Faith like a child that all things are working together for good?
Born again, back to where it all began, before the ego developed, and we decided we had something to prove.
The love, joy and peace we are all searching for is right inside of us. It is our nature. The kingdom of heaven is within.
It’s often the simplest things that confound the wise.
In love and light,
