Losing it:
“Whoever finds their [lower life] will lose it [the higher life], and whoever loses their [lower] life on my account will find it [higher life]. Whoever receives and welcomes and accepts you receives and welcomes and accepts me.” (Matthew 10:39-40)
Our lower life (our person, our identity, ego, who we think we are) is where most of us spend the majority of our lives. We forget that we are simply souls playing roles, and as a result, it’s very easy to get caught in those roles. This verse is telling us that if we detach from the role, we will find our true identity which is the I AM.
Sometimes it helps to see life as a play on a grand stage, and all people, including ourselves as the actors and actresses in the play. What helps even more, is to step off the stage every now and then and simply observe the play from the audience.
But how do we do this?
The easiest way is to shut it all down. Seriously, take some time for yourself, where you can get quiet, and just sit in the silence. Don’t worry about your mind racing, acknowledge it, observe all the crazy thoughts that stream across your mind. This is nothing to be ashamed of, in fact, it’s completely normal. Those endless thoughts are part of the script for the play you are starring in; and when you step off the stage, the script keeps going, but the difference here is that you are now observing it rather than performing as the lead actor.
Sit quietly, breathe deeply and slowly, no fancy pants technique needed.
Observe, laugh at how the thoughts bombard your brain, and feel comforted as you realize everyone else on the planet is dealing with the same thing.
Stay in the audience as long as you like, and then step back on stage and resume your role.
As you develop a habit of doing this, you will notice that your time “off stage” naturally increases, which causes your consciousness to organically expand, and awareness of your divine nature begins to take center stage.
It’s the simple things.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot, did you notice the last part of the above verse? “Whoever receives and welcomes and accepts you, receives and welcomes and accepts me.”
Why?
Because you are one and the same.
In love and light,
