Namaste:

If you’re interested in spirituality at all you’ve no doubt heard the word Namaste. In recent years it’s become a bit of a spiritual buzz word, and you can often find it in association with Yoga studios here in the west; but I often wonder if people truly know what the word really means, not to mention the eternal power behind it.

Namaste is one of the most (if not THE most) holy and sacred words that a human could ever say. The word originated in the East, and much like the Bible itself, it has a hidden meaning that I believe is lost on a lot of people. Namaste, as taught to me by my spiritual teacher Ram Dass, means: “The eternal God in me acknowledges the eternal God in you.” Just pause for a moment and think about this.

Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to the saints.” (Colossians 1:26)

This “mystery” is revealed in the word Namaste; the mystery of God masquerading around earth wearing human garments. The mystery that we are all God. Every time you greet someone with Namaste, you are acknowledging that you are God and so are they, thus revealing the Messianic Secret.

The word Namaste is a divine revelation in itself, and understanding this gives you permission to transcend any and all false teachings and beliefs in regards to God. This word expresses the holy truth: WE ARE THE I AM. Can you think of a more powerful word? No, you can’t, it doesn’t exist.

Our true identity is divine, and the word Namaste is “alive and active, sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it reveals the thoughts and desires of our hearts.” (Hebrews 4:12)

No matter how lost we may get in the roles we are playing, the word Namaste instantly grounds us in the truth. It transports us home, and reminds us that “we are in the world, not of the world.” (John 17:14-16)

Namaste.

In love and light,

-J
