Sensual Aliens:
“Beloved, I implore you as aliens and strangers and exiles in this world to abstain from the sensual urges, your lower nature, that wage war against the soul.” (1st Peter 2:11)
The definition of “implore” according to the Oxford dictionary is: To beg someone earnestly, or desperately to do something.
So it’s safe to say that Peter is pretty serious about what he’s telling us here, he’s literally begging us to abstain from sensual urges. He also addresses us “aliens” and “strangers.” Fascinating stuff.
We can gather from this verse that this earth realm is not our true home; it is however, the home of our lower self, the realm of the senses, and sometimes these senses wage war against our soul.
We came here to create. Period.
Peter is telling us in no uncertain terms that when we are creating our reality, the number one thing we must do is abstain from the urge to believe the evidence of the senses. Your higher self is a master manifestor, and your lower self (ego) has a hard time wrapping its mind around that. The ego survives on sensual urges, and uses those as evidence against us when we are going about the business of manifesting our desires.
When you create something in your imagination it’s a done deal, but the lower self immediately wants to tell you all the reasons why it can’t happen. “You’re too old”, “You’re not good enough”, “You don’t have the money for that.” These are the things that Peter is imploring us to abstain from.
When you feel this “war” begin, acknowledge it. Recognize it.
And know this… “The Lord will fight for you.” (Exodus 14:14)
Drop into your imagination and transmute the sensual urges into faith. “Faith is the evidence of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1)
Every sensual urge has a spiritual counterpart. For instance, your lower self says “That’s impossible, you can’t possibly do that!” But, your higher self knows, “Nothing is impossible with God, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13)
Transmutation.
In love and light,
