Thankful For What?

“Thank God in everything, no matter what the circumstances may be, be thankful and give thanks, for this is the will of God for you who are in Christ Jesus, the Revealer and Mediator of that will.” (1st Thessalonians 5:18 - AMP)

Since we know that Jesus Christ is our own creative human imagination, and since we know that God the Father is universal formless consciousness itself, out of which everything comes into existence, let’s re-examine the above verse in that light.

Upon first observation, this verse seems to be saying that we should be thanking God for every circumstance, even if it’s a bad one; and that’s a tough one to wrap our human minds around. Growing up in church, this is in fact how this verse was taught to me. No matter what, we should be thankful. If something bad happens to you, well then, it must be God’s will, He must be trying to teach you something. You may not like it or understand it, but God’s ways are higher than your ways, and so you better just suck it up and be thankful anyway.

Ugh…

But with “the eyes of our understanding being enlightened” (Ephesians 1:8) we see that this verse takes on a whole new meaning. “Thank God in everything, no matter what the circumstances may be, be thankful and give thanks, for this is the will of God for you who are in imagination.

This is not telling us to be thankful for negative circumstances, but rather telling us to change the negative circumstances in our imagination, and be thankful and give thanks for the new reality. You see, our imagination, which is Jesus Christ, is the source of all creation. Reality is not happening to us, it’s happening through us!

When we find ourselves in a negative situation or circumstance, we enter our imagination and see things the way we desire them to be, and when we truly believe this is how life works, and we see the new circumstance in our mind’s eye, when we really see it and feel it to be true, then we can’t help but to give thanks for it! This is what this verse is truly telling us. This is how we can give thanks no matter what the circumstances may be.

We are the source, we are the salt of the earth, we are the light of the world!

In love and light,

-J
