The Big Three:
“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” (1st Corinthians 13:13)
Out of these three things, the one you hear preached about the most is faith; as a matter of fact, the Word of Faith movement is what most megachurches claim to be a part of. These would be your Televangelists, and the main idea is that if you have faith, and give them your money, then God will be persuaded to do something special for you. Nice work guys.
The Bible has a different take on this though, it says that Love is greater than faith. Again, we must question this, and simply ask why. Why is love greater than faith? The answer is because “God is love.” (1st John 4:7) You see, faith and hope are not bad things by any means; however, they belong to the lower self, and their purpose is to help us rise in consciousness, to be absorbed by our divine nature which is love.
God doesn’t need faith, and God doesn’t need hope, why? Because God is love. Faith and hope can fail you, but the bible says that “love never fails.” (1st Corinthians 13:8)
So, the Bible tells us that “God is love,” and it also tells us that “God is light.” (1st John 1:5) God is love and light. Our ultimate goal as human beings is to wake up to our own divinity, and when this happens we simply become loving awareness.
If God is love and light, then this is what we are seeking; luckily, the Bible gives us a hack to fast track this attainment. Look at Matthew 6:22 “If thy eye be single, thy whole body shall be filled with light.” This is talking about the “single eye” or “third eye.” If we open this eye through meditation our whole body fills with light A.K.A God. This is spiritual awakening.
Sitting quietly and “taking no thought” (Matthew 6:25) will cause your eye to become single, you will fill with light and become loving awareness.
“This life’s dim windows of the soul, distorts the heavens from pole to pole, and leads you to believe a lie, when you see with, not through, the eye.” - William Blake
