The Power of Love:
“The power of love is a curious thing, make a one man weep, make another man sing. Change a hawk to a little white dove, more than a feeling; that’s the power of love.” - (Huey Lewis and The News, 1985)
“Love does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail. Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fade-less under all circumstances, and it endures everything without weakening.” (1st Corinthians 13:6-7 AMP)
“God is Love” (1st John 4:8)
We are God, therefore we are love.
An aspect of love is the ability to believe the best of every person. This is something that is difficult to do, especially in the world we are currently living in; however, when we cultivate this part of ourselves, it can literally change the world.
Everyone, including political leaders, presidents, governments, etc… have a good part of them, and hard as it may be, love has the ability to find that.
Where our attention goes, our energy flows. If we only focus on the negative sides of people, we will get more and more negativity. This is a spiritual law. On the flip side, if we focus on the good sides of people, we will magnify that side of them. This whole thing is energy.
Let’s all try to incorporate this into our spiritual practice, and I promise, we will be amazed at the results.
My spiritual teacher Ram Dass used to take pictures of political leaders that he could not stand, ones that made him angry, and he would place them on his Puja table, light a candle and meditate with them. He would then be able to identify with the good in them, and therefore know and understand how to effectively pray.
Not a bad idea.
In love and light,
