Come on Jesus, tell us how you really feel!

If you’re interested in spirituality at all you’ve no doubt heard the word Namaste. In recent years it’s become a bit of a spiritual buzz word, and you can often find it in association with Yoga studios here in the west; but I often wonder if people truly know what the word really means, not to mention the eternal power behind it.

“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin…” (Zechariah 4:10)

As we discussed in the previous post, many of us have this belief that when our manifestation comes, that it will arrive in some grand and glorious manner with serenading angels and trumpets; however, this is rarely the case.

Common…it’s a dangerous word. We humans are a peculiar species, we’re always looking for the uncommon. Common things cause us to lose interest, but what if this is where the magic is? You’ve no doubt heard the saying “You can’t see the forest for the trees.” Trees are common, they’re everywhere, but does that make them any less special? No, it doesn’t.

This is one of the key foundational principles of reality creation. It’s a simple statement, but I’ve found that it is widely misunderstood. “As above, so below” originates from the Emerald Tablet of Hermes Trismegistus which is an ancient Hermetic spiritual text; however, it is also biblical, though you’re unlikely to hear it preached on in most churches today.

There’s a fascinating little story in the Bible found in Genesis 32:22-32. If you have a Bible handy, please take a moment and read these ten verses. I would write them out for you here, but it’s early, and besides that, there’s something about turning to the page and finding the verses yourself that enhances the experience with this story. Go ahead, I’ll wait.

There’s a school of thought out there that teaches us that we should never pray and ask God for personal things.

“Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.” (John 14:12)

“Be still and know I AM God.” (Psalms 46:10) and “Put me in remembrance.” (Isaiah 43:26)

Ahhh yes, the third studio album by the Beastie Boys released in 1992, the soundtrack of my sophomore year of high school. As fond as those memories are, I really just wanted to focus on the title “Check Your Head” and how it relates to the megachurch. I believe every one of them should have a sign over their main entrance with those words spelled out in giant block letters. Why? Because that’s exactly what you must do in order to fall prey to their system, you must check your head, or check your brain at the door. Let me explain.

No, this is not a political piece, God knows we have quite enough of those floating around these days. Have you ever noticed how the Bible always refers to the right side of things? The right side of the boat (John 21:6), the right hand of God (Psalms 110:1, Psalms 118:16, Isaiah 41:10, Isaiah 41:13, Psalms 89:13, Hebrews 1:3, Hebrews 8:1, Hebrews 12:2, 1st Peter 3:22, Acts 2:33, Acts 7:56, Acts 5:31, Romans 8:34) and so on and so on.
